Does Disney+ Have 'The Hunger Games?'

The odds may not be in Disney+ subscribers’ favor. There are a few ways to watch the 2012 film, The Hunger Games and its sequels, including on Disney’s television network, Freeform. 

Is The Hunger Games on Disney’s streaming platform? Here’s how to watch the original movie and its sequels. 

‘The Hunger Games’ and its sequels are not available on Disney+

As a book trilogy-turned movie franchise, the original movie, The Hunger Games, premiered in theaters in 2012. A few years later, the author of the trilogy released a prequel, titled The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes. 

Now, some fans are looking to catch up on The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.

This movie starred Lawrence as the title character, a resident of District 12 named Katniss, who volunteered for the annual Hunger Games. It only got more complicated when the male tribute from her district revealed that he had a crush on her. 

Throughout these movies, the characters must fight for their lives and the freedom of the residents of Panem. Produced by Lionsgate, The Hunger Games, and its sequels are not available on Disney’s streaming platform, Disney+.

‘The Hunger Games’ is available for purchase digitally and physically

Although the first movie in this collection was released in 2012, outside of streaming platforms, there are a few ways for fans to watch The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.

Fans can purchase or rent the movies digitally, thanks to Amazon. There are also physical copies, in DVD form, available for purchase at retailers like Walmart and Target. There are also the books that these movies were based on, written by Suzanne Collins, available for purchase.

How to stream ‘The Hunger Games’ and its sequels, ‘Catching Fire’ and ‘Mockingjay’

There are a few other ways to watch The Hungers Games movies besides purchasing them. As one of Disney’s affiliate television networks, The Hunger Games is available for “streaming” on Freeform’s website. The movie and its sequels periodically play on Freeform. 

Additionally, fans can stream this franchise with a Hulu subscription, thanks to their “Watch Live TV” option. Because Hulu and Disney+ partnered for their “bundle option” with ESPN+, it’s not completely out of the question for The Hunger Games to eventually make its way to Disney’s streaming platform. 

Plenty of PG-13 films are already available for streaming on Disney+, including their live-action adaptation of Mulan. However, there’s no word regarding when, or if, these movies will be released on Disney’s subscription service.
