Bye weeks are in full swing with the Ravens, Colts, Dolphins and Vikings off in Week 7, and there were multiple injuries to key players in Week 6.
This means fantasy managers may find themselves scrambling to the waiver wire for one-week replacements for Lamar Jackson, Adam Thielen, Jonathan Taylor and Mark Andrews, or potentially longer-term replacements for Miles Sanders, Zach Ertz, Mark Ingram and Raheem Mostert.
Below you will find players who are all rostered in fewer than 50% of leagues that are worth targeting this week on the waiver wire..
Players are ranked by roster percentage on Yahoo and all fantasy points are calculated in half PPR scoring.
Quarterbacks
Teddy Bridgewater, Carolina Panthers (45% rostered)
Bridgewater was a recommended sit in Week 6 and was indeed a dud against a very tough Bears defense. He completed 16 of 29 attempts for 216 yards, zero touchdowns and tossed two interceptions. There aren’t many widely available Week 7 quarterback options, which could be a product of this year’s volatility and more managers rostering a backup QB than in years past. That said, Bridgewater has proven to be a trustworthy streamer in the right matchups and is in a decent spot to bounce back against the Saints, whose defense is not nearly as strong as the Bears’.
Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers (27%)
Garoppolo was dropped in many leagues after an injury held him out of two games and he posted negative fantasy points in his Week 5 return against the Dolphins. He looked much healthier and bounced back big time in Week 6 against the Rams, completing 23 of 33 attempts for 268 yards and three touchdowns. He will face a difficult challenge on the road this week in Foxborough against his former squad, but is still worth an add as a bye-week replacement or streaming option.
Running backs
La’Mical Perine, New York Jets (20% rostered)
Most of the Jets were unremarkable on Sunday in their 24-0 shutout loss to the Dolphins. Perine posted seven carries for 27 yards and caught two of three passes for 9 yards. That said, the 2020 fourth rounder’s workload should increase now that he’s healthy and Le’Veon Bell is gone. He’s worth an add this week on waivers, but temper expectations for his ceiling, as any player on this team is going to be hampered by the Jets’ lackluster offensive capabilities.
Boston Scott, Philadelphia Eagles (15%)
Lead running back Miles Sanders went down with an ankle injury during Sunday’s loss to the Ravens and is expected to miss at least this week’s matchup against the Giants. Scott has been barely featured leading up to this point, but he should see ample opportunities to rectify that with Sanders sidelined and two mouth-watering matchups on deck against the Giants and Cowboys ahead of the Eagles’ Week 9 bye.
J.D. McKissic, Washington Football Team (12%)
McKissic posted another solid outing during Sunday’s loss to the Giants. He had eight carries for 41 yards and caught all six targets for 43 yards, which eclipsed Antonio Gibson’s nine carries for 30 yards and four catches for 25 yards. McKissic is another player with limited upside playing for a less than exciting offense, but he does have a sweet Week 7 matchup on deck against Dallas.
Gus Edwards, Baltimore Ravens (3%)
Edwards led the Ravens in touches on Sunday after Mark Ingram went down early with an ankle injury. He tallied 14 carries for 26 yards and a touchdown ahead of rookie J.K. Dobbins’ nine carries for 28 yards and two catches for 1 yard. The backfield is crowded, but Edwards is a speculative add this week with the Ravens on a bye in case Ingram were to miss any time.
JaMycal Hasty, San Francisco 49ers (1%)
Raheem Mostert is banged up once again after missing time earlier this season with an MCL sprain. He suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday’s win over the Rams and head coach Kyle Shanahan says he is “most likely” headed to injured reserve. Surprisingly, it was Hasty, not Jerick McKinnon (67 percent rostered), who saw an increased workload after Mostert exited in the second half. The 2020 undrafted free-agent had nine attempts for 37 yards to McKinnon’s six carries for 18 yards. He is worth an add this week, especially in an offense that favors the run as much as the 49ers.
Wide receivers
Christian Kirk, Arizona Cardinals (40% rostered)
Kirk has been fairly lackluster up until his two-score game on Monday night against the Cowboys. He capitalized on just three targets and caught two passes for 86 yards and the pair of touchdowns. He has another favorable matchup this week against the Seahawks, who are allowing an average of 27.2 points per game. Kirk is a high-upside Week 7 flex, especially with four teams on bye this week.
Travis Fulgham, Philadelphia Eagles (31%)
Fulgham has burst onto the scene with much of the Philadelphia receiving corps injured and has finished as WR25, WR2 and WR9 in the three games he has played. He caught six of 10 targets in Week 6 for 75 yards and picked up his third score in three games in a relatively difficult matchup against the Ravens. He has a solid chance to extend that streak into the next two weeks with the Giants and Cowboys on deck, even if the Eagles get any of Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson or rookie Jalen Reagor (eligible for return from IR this week) back.
Preston Williams, Miami Dolphins (25%)
Wideout DeVante Parker suffered a groin injury in Week 6 against the Jets and has been dealing with on-and-off hamstring issues this year. This could mean an increased target share for Williams, who hasn’t been the breakout candidate many hoped he would be to this point, but he has scored in two games in a row, and three times in the past four games. The Dolphins are on bye in Week 6, but he is worth a bench stash if you have room, especially with Parker’s health status frequently up in the air.
Tim Patrick, Denver Broncos (18%)
Patrick posted another 100-yard performance in New England in Week 6, indicating that perhaps his Week 4 coming-out-party in primetime wasn’t merely an optical illusion or a byproduct of playing the Jets. He led the team in targets and receiving, catching four of eight passes for 101 yards. He’s quickly emerging as one of the top options in this offense, especially if Noah Fant continues to miss time.
Tight ends
Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles (41% rostered)
Zach Ertz suffered an ankle injury in Week 6 in the latest blow to the Eagles’ pass-catching corps. He is expected to miss at least Week 7 in a juicy matchup against the Giants on Thursday night. The good news is Goedert — who has missed the last three weeks on IR with an ankle fracture — could return as early as this week. Goedert has been highly productive even as the TE2 in this offense and if healthy, should see a significant role with Ertz sidelined.
Trey Burton, Indianapolis Colts (22%)
Burton is an intriguing bench stash with the Colts headed into their Week 7 bye. He caught four of five passes for 58 yards and a touchdown and added a 1-yard run out of the wildcat with Mo-Alie Cox out. Even if Alie-Cox returns in Week 8, Burton appears to be the best option among this Indianapolis tight-end group ahead of Jack Doyle.
