Kanye West breaks 11-month Twitter silence to write new philosophy book

June 2024 · 2 minute read

Back in May last year, Kanye West disappeared mysteriously from social media and has kept a fairly low profile ever since – that was until last night.

The hip hop star has taken to Twitter to post a flurry of philosophical messages to fans, suggesting they form part of a new book that he’s currently writing “in real time” in a bid to satisfy his “innate need to be expressive”.

His final tweet back in April 2017 read “trend is always late” but in a tweet posted yesterday he hinted at the book and said: “No publisher or publicist will tell me what to put where or how many pages to write. This is not a financial opportunity this is an innate need to be expressive.”

Adding: “I will work on this ‘book’ when I feel it.”

The news comes after he revealed in The Hollywood Reporter that he would be releasing a book of philosophy called Break The Simulation which it’s understood will focus on why society loves photographs.

As well as his series of tweets sharing his musings on life and the internet, West also gave his followers some life guidance which includes the tweet, “when you first wake up don’t hop right on the phone or the internet or even speak to anyone for even up to an hour if possible,”

It’s not the first time West has worked on a project in real-time, as he reworked his most recent album “The Life of Pablo” twice after it was released.

After recently splitting with his longtime manager Izvor “Izzy” Zivkovic, West is also rumoured to be working on new music.

The new book will be in addition to his music, fashion and media empire
