Yesterday (Thursday, May 10), Liam Payne paid a visit to Radio 1 and made his solo Live Lounge debut.
As per the usual Live Lounge format, Liam performed two songs – an original and a cover. For his original track, he gave a sizzling performance of his latest J Balvin assisted single ‘Familiar’. Whilst J Balvin wasn’t present, Liam did bring along Yxng Bane to add an extra burst of energy to the performance. Liam impressed fans by taking on J Balvin’s Spanish verses, delivering the tongue twisting lyrics with ease.
‘Familiar’ is currently climbing the UK Singles Chart, having reached a new peak of number 25 today. Following his incredible Live Lounge performance, we expect the song to continue its rise to the top over the summer months.

For the cover, Liam opted to take on Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey’s ‘The Middle’. It was recently reported that a slew of female singers including Demi Lovato, Camila Cabello and Anne-Marie had recorded ‘The Middle’ before Maren became the song’s official singer, therefore it’s interesting to now hear a male take on the track.
Liam strips the song back beautifully, offering up the addition of light drums and a cello accompaniment. He also throws in a little bit of Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa’s number one hit ‘One Kiss’ for good measure.
